Hi everyone, young and old,
I’m sure you all know by now that in Wales, clergy may lead services in church from this coming Sunday, 19th July. Services in church do not have to be arranged, it is not a directive, but meetings and preparations have been made at St John’s to ensure that it is safe to hold a service in the church.
Much preparation has been made to ensure Health and Safety rules are met in terms of sanitising, social distancing, one-way system to avoid crowding, toilets are shut off and it is practicable to hold a service without using any books. All this is in place in St John’s and the screens and computers will ensure no one has to touch a book or sheet. However, there is to be no singing, no choir and the organ must not be used.
Fr Will is planning to begin to hold services at St John’s from next week, so the first Sunday Holy Eucharist will be on Sunday 26th July at 10.45 and the first Wednesday service will be on 29th July at 10.30.
The plan, to ensure the maximum attendance does not exceed the Risk Assessment of seating in line with social distancing, is that those people who would normally attend church on a Sunday should not attend on a Wednesday and, likewise, those who would attend on a Wednesday are asked not to attend on a Sunday. I hope that this is clearly explained and we look forward to seeing you again.
