What a wonderful service as we look towards Christmas Day and the birth of Jesus. The church looked wonderful in candlelight; the floral displays were beautiful, a congregation of over 200 holding their candles as the choir processed in to Once in Royal David’s City, after Rhianwen and Freya had sung the first verse so well, all contributed to a very warming atmosphere and a sense of expectancy. The choir sang superbly and with confidence, accompanied on the organ by Linda Stevens, and we enjoyed learning several new carols for this service. The traditional readings were presented so well by our readers and the congregational carols were sung with gusto by the enthusiastic congregation. This service is a long time in the making and the commitment of the choristers in attending practices in excellent numbers is to be commended, and, from comments gleaned from our visitors, the results of our preparations were delightful and much appreciated. My thanks to everyone who sang in the choir, to Linda, to the readers, the sidespersons who welcomed so many visitors to church, to Linda and Rob on the computer and to Father Will for leading the service with sincerity and obvious enjoyment!
