Our flower arranging team, led by Pam Hawkes, ensured that the church looked superb for the Christmas Festival services and they worked extremely hard over many, many days, bringing their undoubted talents to the varied displays around the church. You can see other photographs in the media gallery, and members of our congregation along with the many visitors we welcomed over the Christmas period enjoyed walking around the church to view the displays. Well done to the whole team.
Everyone was delighted with the attendances at our special services: well over 200 in the congregation for the Nine Lessons and Carols, the church was packed for the Christingle and Crib service on Christmas Eve, there was a good turn-out for the First Mass of Christmas (sung Midnight Mass) and the said service with carols on Christmas morning saw the congregation fill the choir stalls for this lovely, intimate Eucharist service.
This is a favourite time of the year for many people and it is to be hoped that coming to St John’s brought great pleasure to our regular congregation and the many visitors who joined us at one or more of these services. We wish everyone a very happy and blessed new year.
